"Most people think of St. Elizabeth as a great school with a friendly environment, but to me, it is so much more than that. It’s like a second home. This is so clear to me every morning – when I leave my house actually wanting to come to school. I don’t dread it like some people do. I am always excited to start another day at my second home – a place where I feel encouraged to try new things, to develop new talents, to go beyond my “comfort zone” – because I know I’ll always be accepted here. It’s that kind of atmosphere that makes every day full of potential for real growth, both on an academic level and on a personal level.
I think the reason I feel so at home at St. E is because everyone – staff and students alike – have been so welcoming, from day one. St. E truly lives up to its commitment to Benedictine hospitality. Even though high school lasts only four years, I already know that the sense of community and family at St. E will last a lifetime.
St. E is more than a second home to me, it’s a place to be somebody. Here, we each have so many opportunities not just to participate, but to excel and succeed. Everyone can explore their interests, whether in academics, athletics, the arts, or whatever their passion…with the security that comes from that sense of encouragement I mentioned earlier. For example, I had the chance to play JV soccer as a freshman (not a likely possibility at other schools). It was a great experience that turned out to be a highlight of my first year – and it shows that at St. E, at any moment, there are opportunities that can turn into life-long memories. The faculty and staff at St. E are truly invested in the school and the students. It’s so apparent that they really want to help us succeed. This school has done so much for me in the time that I have been here; I’ve made good friends, been challenged to excel academically, and have had the opportunity to act as a leader in my class. St. E has given me the confidence to be who I am, and to be the best I can be. Because of my experiences at St. E, I finally know who I am as a person and what I want to do in life. I love St. E, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I value every day I have here."
